the
padre foundation!
What is PADRE?
PADRE stands for
the Pediatric Adolescent Diabetes Research and
Education Foundation. PADRE was started 20 years
ago by a father of a newly diagnosed 5 year old
girl, who was searching for resources and information
regarding Type 1 diabetes.
Today, PADRE serves hundreds of families in the
Orange County area, through a variety of activities
that are hosted by the organization including;
the Annual Family Retreat in Lake Arrowhead, the
Harvest Carnival, the PADRE Fashion Show, the
'Hunt for the Cure' golf tournament, and Summer
Camp.
Activities are also held on a monthly basis for
various age groups of children ranging from 2
to 18 years old. Each group goes on a separate
outing each month. Some past outings have included;
 |
Disneyland |
 |
The Discovery Science Center |
 |
Circus |
 |
Wild Rivers |
 |
Bowling |
PADRE additionally offers
monthly educational and support classes including
a Caregiver's class; which helps grandparents,
relatives, and babysitters gain knowledge about
diabetes safety. If you would like to receive
information about any of these activities, please
feel free to sign-up for the PADRE mailing list.
Diabetes is a family disease, and the PADRE Foundation
is here to help you navigate this uncharted territory.
The staff and families of PADRE look forward to
meeting you!
