The PADRE Foundation conducts 100 education/support group classes every year. Listed below are brief descriptions of several of the psychosocial events supported by the PADRE Foundation annually.
Diabetes Family Night: A fun night for getting together with other families with similar highs and lows! Meet new friends. Members of the Diabetes Care Team will also visit with us. A light dinner will be served.
Diabetes Play Dates: If you have a child with diabetes, 5 years or younger and would like to be part of a play group, then this is for you! We usually meet at parks throughout the county on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Please RSVP to April Haller-562-243-3011 or haller00@ca.rr.com for directions and information.
Teen Events: Ages 13-19 year olds. The teen events enables teens to have an opportunity to interact with their peers from surrounding areas in a fun environment. This is a great opportunity for teens with diabetes to meet other teens who are living with diabetes and share the same types of day to day diabetes related challenges. Some past events: Surfing with Diabetes (surf camp), Disneyland, Knott's Scary Farm, Universal Studios, and Paint balling.
M.O.D Squad (Mother's Of children with Diabetes): A support group for moms! Location: Mission Lutheran Church, 24360 Yosemite Road, Laguna Niguel RSVP: Marlene or Leah at missionluth@aol.com or call (949) 831-8820.
Riding the Wave of Diabetes: Join us at the Allen Diabetes Center, Newport Beach, to learn how children with diabetes and parents of children with diabetes turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones! Insightful speakers help you to respond successfully to the challenges of diabetes.
